MIBoC Online exam process

Before taking your exam, please ensure that you have read and understand the below requirements.

When your application has been approved and processed you will receive an email confirming your exam is now available. At this time, you can then arrange a suitable time for yourself and your approved Invigilator.

Please complete the 5-minute “Exam System Check” at least 2 days prior to taking your exam as this will allow you to test and confirm that your computer is set up correctly in preparation for your exam. Failure to do so could result in system errors on the day and stop the exam from taking place, causing further stress and inconvenience.

  • Ensure you have received your log in credentials (username and password) from our online exam platform (YTM).
  • Log into the online exam (YTM) platform using your login credentials (username and password) provided.
  • Please follow the MIBoC online exam navigation to assist you to set up your system and to navigate through the exam platform. You can print a copy of this also.
  • Complete the “Exam System Check” to check your system is set up and ready.
  • Ensure that you follow and complete all the required steps when completing the Exam System Check. (your Invigilator is not required for this stage)
  • Please check that your invigilator has reviewed the invigilation instructions including the password to unlock your exam on the day of your exam. This password will need to be added by your invigilator only on the day of the exam and should not be shared with you.
  • Please check if exam reference material is available for your exam. If available a copy is provided in digital form within the exam or you can print a copy here: Reference Material
  • It is a requirement that the exam session is video recorded. The exam settings are already configured so that the system will do this automatically for you. Please make sure the invigilator is seen in the exam video for the duration of the exam and do not turn off the camera at any time during the exam.
  • You will be prompted to take a photo of your ID when entering the exam, and asked to scan your desk and room, please ensure these are done correctly in order to proceed.
  • When your exam begins the invigilator must show their ID card and their face to the camera.  (This will not be prompted the same as you were as a student) Then you can commence the exam. 

Failure to follow the instructions provided here or to provide a satisfactory video recording will cause the examination to be deemed invalid.

During your exam you are ONLY allowed to have access to the following material

  • MIBoC Exam Reference Material
  • MIBoC online exam navigation
  • A basic non-programmable calculator (please note that the calculator option on smartphones is not allowed)
  • Blank notepad and pen

The presence of a cell/mobile phones or any other electronic communicating, image capturing or data storage devices during the exam is strictly prohibited and if present will invalidate your exam.

Once the exam is completed, please ensure all written and hardcopy material (inclusive of notes taken) is destroyed.

After you have completed your exam, your examination details will automatically be sent to the MIBoC Exams team, and the grading process will commence. A team member will review your video and if accepted your exam will be graded.

Once grading is complete your results will be sent by email to the primary email address listed in your student profile. In preparation for certification, please ensure that your student profile has been updated with current information, including your work experience information.
