Below are the step-by-step instructions for using our online exam software for MIBoC exams.
The MIBoC online certification exam is taken using an online platform called You Test Me (YTM) and using Safe Exam Browser (SEB) to ensure the security of the exam. You can only use the online platform (YTM) on a Windows computer. MacOS is not compatible.
The settings are sensitive, so once you start the exam you cannot access any other information on your computer without the exam session closing.

Your approved invigilator will need to unlock your certification exam when instructed with their session password and they MUST be present and actively observing you in person (in the same room) for the entire duration of the exam.
Online exam navigation
Below are the step-by step instructions for using YTM.
To set up your computer and complete the Exam System Check please follow the below instructions;
- Close all programs and disconnect any additional monitors (only one display is allowed for the entire duration of the examination period), then follow the link for the login page: https://mobius-inst.youtestme.com/ytm34/login.xhtml
- When you reach the login screen, please enter the individual username and password that has been previously emailed to you.
- Click on “Assignments” then “My tests” on the left-hand panel as pictured below:
- Choose the exam you wish to commence and click “Start” or “Unlock to start”
- Please complete the Exam System Check. Your invigilator is not required for the exam system check.
- The Instructions screen will appear. Ensure you read and understand the instructions. Ask your invigilator to enter the “Session password”. Click the check box “I understand and agree with the instructions and rules of this examination” to begin.
Click “Start” to continue. - You will now need to download SEB to continue.
If you have previously downloaded SEB click on “Open in Safe Exam Browser” and move to instruction number 13. - If you are downloading SEB for the first time, you will be presented with options for Windows as pictured below. Please select the the windows version only and the download will commence.
SEB is available for Windows 10 or 11. To check which Windows editions you have select the Start button > Settings > System > About. Scroll down to “Windows specifications” and “Edition”)
Select Safe Exam Browser for Windows as shown below, and the download will automatically begin. - When the download has completed, find the file in your browser’s recent downloads history, click on the file to run it. Click on “I agree to the license terms and conditions” checkbox then “install”.
- You will be asked if you want to allow this app to make changes to your device – please click “Yes” to proceed.
- Click on “Close” when installation is completed.
- SEB has now been installed successfully on your computer in preparation for the exam.
- The exam is now ready to commence. Close down all programs except for the YTM browser page already open and ensure you don't have any additional screens/displays connected.
- Click on “Open in Safe Exam Browser”
- Click on “Leave page” to proceed.
- Click on the check box to allow SEB to open, then “Open Safe Exam Browser”.
Note: If you have any other applications running SEB will ask to close these applications to continue. Select “Yes”. - Initializing will commence.
- The instructions screen will appear again to enter the SEB exam environment. Ensure you read and understand the instructions. If you are completing your exam, your invigilator will need to enter the “Session password”. Click the check box “I understand and agree with the instructions and rules of this examination”.
Click “Start” to continue. - Equipment check will commence confirming the webcam, microphone, network and screen are functioning correctly.
If any problems are detected the system will notify you to rectify. - When the Equipment check had been completed successfully the “Next” button will turn green.
Click “Next”. - The system will require you to take a photograph of yourself. Click “TAKE PHOTO” under your image.
- The system will notify you that the photograph has been saved. When you are happy with the picture and it has been accepted, click on “Next”.
- The system will require you to upload your photo ID or take a photograph with you holding your ID. (If uploading the upload format is JPEG or PNG). When you are happy with the picture and it has been accepted, click on “Next”.
- You will be prompted to record a 360° video of your workplace and surroundings. Click “START RECORDING”. (Include in this recording a shot of your desk). Note: If you choose the “QR Code” option you must complete the process, otherwise you will not be able to return to continue and will need to exit SEB and reenter the exam from the YTM “My tests” web page.
- When completed click on “SAVE” and “Next”.
- When your exam begins the invigilator must show their ID card and their face to the camera. (This will not be prompted the same as you were as a student) Then you can commence the exam.
Completing your exam - To move through the exam select an answer by clicking the circle next to the appropriate option. Select “Next question” to move to a new question.
Helpful tips:
Reference material:
Some tests have reference material attached. To access the reference material, go to the bottom left of the screen where the Test Attachments are found. Select the “eye” icon under actions. You may need to scroll down to show the reference material onto the screen.
Flagging questions:
If you wish to return to a question later, you can flag it by clicking the flag icon under the “Next question” button. Flagged questions can be reviewed by clicking the tab “Review list” in the middle right of the screen.
Calculator:
To access a scientific calculator, click on the icon on the left of the flag icon.
Changing languages:
Your exam will be set up in your requested language. However, if you wish to view the question in another language, the language can be changed by selecting the drop-down next to the language name just above the question text.
Notes:
You can create a note for yourself by clicking the “Create new” button in the bottom right of the screen under Notes.
Finishing your exam - Once you have completed your exam select “Finish test” at the top right of the screen.
- The “Finish Test” popup will appear saying “Are you sure you want to finish the test?” Click "Yes".
- Please wait while the system submits your answers. When your exam has been successfully submitted the following message will appear. “You have completed the attempt, but this report is not available yet. The manager needs to review it”. Click “Sign out”.
- The Knowledge Base article “What happens when I finish my online exam?” will open.
- Your exam has now been submitted. To exit SEB, click on the power button in the bottom right of the screen.
- A popup will appear asking “Do you want to leave SEB?”. Click “Yes”.
